Here I will introduce how to adjust zoom lever of Reading Pane and new messages window in Microsoft Outlook. When previewing email messages in the Reading Pane, you can adjust the zoom lever and make the fonts and images fit for reading comfortably. Shift to the Mail view, click to select the email message that you will preview, and then adjust the zoom lever with moving the zoom slider in the Status bar at the bottom of Outlook. There are two ways to temporarily increase or decrease the zoom level in the Outlook Reading Pane. If you are using a mouse with a wheel control, click the Reading Pane, press Ctrl, and roll the scroll wheel. Rolling the wheel away from you makes the contents larger, rolling the wheel toward you makes the contents smaller.

If you want to persist your zoom setting, this is now possible if you have Outlook, version or higher, as part of a Microsoft subscription. When you compose, reply, or forward an email there is also a new option for setting the zoom preference.

When the zoom view is changed, the setting is persistent on all future messages you compose, reply to, or forward. Note: The zoom view setting doesn't affect how recipients will see the message. Messages always open at percent zoom view size. To adjust the contents when you are composing or reading a message, you have two options — use your mouse wheel button or the Zoom command on the ribbon. You can also change the size of contents in the Reading Pane. Set the cursor in the reading pane window, then click and hold the CTRL button while scrolling the mouse wheel.

How to Zoom When Composing an Email It is quite simple to make the writing bigger when you are composing an email in Outlook — all you need to do is increase the size of the font you are working with. Once you have a new window open to compose a message, click on File , then Options , then Stationary and Fonts : In the window above, you can select new defaults for the font type and size that will be used for creating new messages, replying to messages, etc.

How to Zoom When Reading an Email When reading emails that have been sent to you by others, you might want to zoom in on the message for easier reading. That will open a window which presents you with zoom options to get the size of the text just right.

Scroll with the Mouse — As described above, if you have a mouse with a wheel, you can zoom in on the message window by depressing the wheel and then scrolling in or out while holding the CTRL key down. Make sure your mouse cursor is within the margins of the email window when using this facility.
